Operations Assistant


Job Description:

This is an exciting and unique role working for a luxury food producer for a retail and a wholesale markets. The role will be to assist the Operations Manager in the following activities:

Key responsibilities and task will include: 
  • Planning and leading production (tube and bottle filling, vacuum packing vanilla pods, tube crimping, labelling and boxing up.)
  • Implementing and updating the Food safety and quality management system (conducting cleaning schedules, maintenance schedules, traceability policies, personal hygiene policies and procedures.)
  • Ensuring that all productions are adhering to company policies in relation to food hygiene and product standards (supervision and management of staff.)
  • Stock control, including stock level monitoring and ordering new stock where necessary
  • Sourcing new products and packaging and price negotiations with suppliers
  • Completing goods in forms when new stock arrives
  • New staff training
  • Warehousing and despatch duties (stock rotation, sending out orders, following customer booking in procedures)
  • Auditing company’s operations against the Safe and Local suppliers approval framework to ensure that its Safe and Local suppliers approval status will be maintained at the next audit date
  • Working alongside the Management Accountant and Marketing department to determine any future changes in sales volumes that will need to be built into the production schedules
  • Completing and filing any paper work that relates to production, traceability or goods in
  • Opportunity to attend Food Fair and shows to gain marketing and sales experience
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am until 5.30 pm with 1 hour for lunch. Some weekend work may be required from time to time but this will be arranged in advance
TRAINING
Training will be given in all key areas of responsibility and will include: 
  • Food safety and hygiene for manufacturing (Levels 2 and 3)
  • HACCP training (Minimum of level 2)
  • Production schedule planning
  • Sales forecasting techniques
  • Economic ordering techniques
  • Stock control procedures
  • Machinery set up and clean down procedures
  • Machinery maintenance
  • Internal company policy training
  • Productivity training in relation to the companies operating procedures.

Essential requirements:
  • Native/Excellent English
  • Studying a relevant degree in Operations Management or Business
  • Previous experience and knowledge in Operation and Production Management
  • Very good telephone manner
  • Good computer skills in MS Office, PowerPoint, Facebook, Internet

  • The company is a provider of natural, luxury food ingredients to both retail and wholesale markets. It has been on the market for 5 years old and it has a small team who is devoted to develop the business in the industry.

  • East Devon
Remuneration details:
  • A training allowance of £300/month plus a free accommodation will be provided to assist with accommodation and subsistence costs
